Following our previous post on beautiful nails arts and styles we decided to create a guide on how to create Acrylic Nails from your home. Doing nails at home can be done with the right practice. We advice you read about the risks that goes with the work, both from educated platforms, and especially uneducated sources before you start. with a little bit of luck, practice and patience we know you would be able to get yours created in no time.
If you would like better control over the look of your acrylics nails, we strongly suggest you buy the supplies separately without the use of an acrylic nail kit. This will give you the opportunity to reapply acrylic after your nails grow out. Go to a beauty supply store and buy the following supplies:
Acrylic nail clippers and files. Regular clippers and files aren’t as effective on acrylic nails.180, 240, 1000 & 4000 grit should be enough. You might need an even coarser file than the 180 grit if the end result is very clumpy.
Acrylic liquid and acrylic powder. These materials are blended collectively to create acrylic nails. As said before, stay away from MMA monomers, go for the EMA (always read what ingredients is used!).
Acrylic bowl and acrylic brush. You will require these types of equipment to stir up the acrylic and apply it. Somewhere between size, #8-12 might be a great choice.
We strongly recommend applying acrylic on a clean and properly trimmed nails. Always remove your old polish before getting started, use an acetone-based, oil-free nail polish remover to take it off. If you have old acrylic nails or gels to remove, soak them in pure acetone to remove them. Do NOT peel them off; soak them until it can be pushed away with ease. Peeling it off will damage your own nail, making it a lot thinner.
